WELCOME

Thanks for stopping by! Here I wrote openly about my life as a mommy to our miracle daughter Lilly, the struggles we went through on this journey to parenthood, the loss of our precious son and pretty much anything else that comes up. Feel free to look around, leave a comment or two, put your feet up and get comfortable :)

27 Weeks

THIS WEEK
I'm officially in the third trimester and can't believe we're almost done! I can't help but marvel at the fact that I am pregnant, it feels like a dream sometimes and that the day we found out feels like it was just yesterday - not twenty-something weeks ago! A family friend of ours gave birth to their little girl this week, she was supposed to be born in January and it is definitely nerve wracking to see these little baby's coming early. We pray this baby girl will stay safe and growing strong within me for a few more weeks (10!). This week I had my glucose test and it wasn't horrible, but I remember it being easier with our son, this time the orange drink bothered my stomach a little and burnt down my throat all day but I was strangely excited to be far enough along to get to do the glucose tolerance screening. We also attended a wedding this weekend, Dylan's cousin, it was stressful with the long drive and my body didn't appreciate it at all. But it was nice to be there for them and it was SO nice to hear how many people love our baby girl - it blows me away how much love this little girl already has. It was also nice to get complemented, I have been showing very early on and with the reduced activity I spend a lot more time in 'relaxing' clothes, although I love my baby bump it was so nice to dress up and hear that everyone thought we looked good :)

 BABY UPDATE
As mentioned in the past few weeks the fruits/vegetables that the books/apps/websites use to show the size of the baby are starting to get a little weird so we've had to improvise a bit (and probably will for these last few months as we get closer and closer to meeting our baby girl). So, long story short, over the next few weeks our baby girl is the size of a papaya weighing between 1.5 lbs to 2.20 lbs and is anywhere from 13.3 inches to 14.5 inches long!

Baby girl is practicing the sucking reflex in preparation for feeding out here, the brain tissue and neurons are developing rapidly and the brain waves are now that of a newborns. While her skeleton is completely formed, her joints are not yet connected and her immune system, liver and lungs continue to develop and prepare to function on their own. Her tiny eyelids have begun to open and retinas begun to develop.

MOMMA UPDATE
Very emotional and moody this week, lots of anxiety especially with the long trip to Lethbridge, and lots of worrying aches and pains during the trip. My hips were aching, I had a lot of round ligament pain and my existing varicose veins were causing more pain than usual. Baby girl is getting stronger every week, while still a little sporadic I am feeling movement throughout the day, although she still seems to get most active in the evening and into the night. I've been noticing hiccups these last few weeks and have officially started doing kick counts, not the suggested twice a day yet but I do make a point to lay down and count 6-10 movements (doesn't usually take long), I may not be writing it down every time but once I feel those movements I know she's doing good . Big cravings this week have been cereal with milk, not unusual but I don't usually obsess over it the way I have been lately. I also noticed this week that mint flavored toothpaste isn't bothering me, I normally can't stand mint even not pregnant.

Belly is measuring 43.5 inches

DADDY MOMENTS
Marveling with me over our baby girl and the few weeks left before she is here with us.

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEEK
Being in the third trimester! I just can't believe it!

LOOKING FORWARD TO
Our maternity photos, I'm starting to think of poses we'd like to do and what to wear, we're planning to do them ourselves again and know I'll love them!
