WELCOME

Thanks for stopping by! Here I wrote openly about my life as a mommy to our miracle daughter Lilly, the struggles we went through on this journey to parenthood, the loss of our precious son and pretty much anything else that comes up. Feel free to look around, leave a comment or two, put your feet up and get comfortable :)

16 Weeks

THIS WEEK
I'm 16 weeks, it has been a busy one but I'm thrilled to be another week farther in this pregnancy - despite how uncomfortable or tired I am, every day I'm just so happy to know I'm pregnant and that is such an amazing feeling. We had an ob appointment this week, there was no trouble finding our little one's heart beat this time - a beautiful 144bpm which is about where we've been for the last few weeks; on our home doppler and the 13 week ultrasound. I mentioned the discharge and she did a check, she told me everything looks normal but since she was there she would do a swab anyway and we'd get a call if there was anything - so far no call which is what she expected. We also have the big ultrasound booked, September 13th, I'll be 18 weeks and I can't believe how close it is! I feel like it's Christmas, we just love this baby so much already.

BABY UPDATE
Baby is the size of an avocado this week, I love having this physical representation of our baby (even if it is an estimate).

Baby is continually becoming more active every day and is busy practicing all of the little movements that he/she has already learnt to do - a new one this week is the ability to grasp using their thumbs. The bones are hardening and his/her legs and arms are completely formed now. Although baby's eyes are still closed, they are beginning to make little movements and even have the ability to sense changes in light.

MOMMA UPDATE
I've been a little more emotional this week, obviously still overjoyed and thrilled to be pregnant, maybe a little emotional or sensitive about being on reduced activity and my seemingly-big baby bump but trying not to let either get to me because nothing matters except getting this baby here safely. Otherwise I've been feeling pretty good, no major nausea anymore just once in a while. I had my first leg cramp this week and it was so bad it woke me right out of my sleep, it was horrible and although I stretched it and rubbed it the pain lasted all day.. I'm not looking forward to the next one. Still having a lot of lower back and hip pain, lots of round ligament and even a little bit of "lightning crotch" er.. haha, lots of discomfort especially as my bump is getting bigger and certain sitting/sleeping positions are not as comfortable as they used to be but it makes me excited to know that our little one is growing big and strong. Speaking of strong, I'm starting to feel even more of those butterflies/popping sensations and it is so exciting to feel the beginning of this little one's movements.

Belly is measuring 38inches, down a little from last week but nothing to make me worry.

DADDY MOMENTS
Saying goodbye/hello to our little one every day before work and kissing my belly.
We also babysat our two neices, almost 4yrs old and 1 and a half - it is so wonderful to see how great of a daddy he is going to be with our little one.

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEEK
Being told by my ob (er.. his cover) to relax and stop worrying.
Scheduling our next ultrasound!!

LOOKING FORWARD TO
Finding out, most importantly that this baby is healthy and growing strong, but also if our baby is a boy or a girl - 2ish more weeks!
